BREAKING NEWS: Supergirl’s Next Villain Has Been Cast!

Odette Annable (Pure Geniuis, Astronaunts Wives Club, Banshee, House, You Again, Cloverfield) has been announced to be joining the cast of Supergirl as a series regular in season 3! She will be playing the role of “Reign.”

Reign will be the main villain of Season 3 and we can’t wait! This will be a part of an exciting interpretation of the infamous World Killer story line from the DC Comics themselves.

Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg said of the casting:  “Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Odette for years. We are beyond excited to have her join our cast in the scary, powerful and heartbreaking role of Reign.” Heartbreaking? After the season 2 finale I don’t know if I can deal with anymore heartbreak!

For those of you who aren’t aware, Reign is a genetically engineered super-solider who was created by a group of Kryptonian scientists. According to the comics, she seeks answers on who she is from Kara who doesn’t know and can’t answer her questions. As a result, Reign’s goals change to taking over earth. Although, Reign isn’t the only super-solider created so we might see other characters introduced down the line! Reign shares many of the same powers as Kara, but hers were given by genetic enhancement rather than the presence of a yellow sun.

This answers one of the mysteries left behind after the season 2 finale and means it was Reign who was launched in the third pod from Krypton in the last moments of the finale.

According to the makers of the show, we can expect a different costume from the comic book version. Any ideas on how you think it will look?

SUPERGIRL returns later this year on FOX8
