Born in Melbourne, Jackson lived in Sunbury until the age of nine when he and his family moved to the Gold Coast. Jackson first started playing indoor cricket at the age of four. He showed early promise, and despite there being no young age groups to play with, Jackson was good enough to be on the under-9s team. After moving to the Gold Coast, he switched to outdoor cricket, playing for Mudgeeraba Nerang Cricket Club from the U10s to U17s teams. In 2008 Jackson selected for Queensland Cricket’s Emerging Players Squad in the under-16s. Then in his final year with Mudgeeraba, he was selected for their first grade team aged 17. The following year Jackson started playing play first grade cricket for Beenleigh/Logan Cutters in the Brisbane Grade Cricket Competition, where he reamins today. Jackson says he is naturally good at any sport he tries. As well as cricket, growing up Jackson played eight seasons of AFL from U12s to U18s for his local football club. He has recently been approached by the Southport Sharks, who want Jackson to play representative football for them this season. Jackson completed high school last year (2010) and currently works two days a week at AFL QLD whilst completing a Diploma of Fitness at the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE.
