Will Sam be the next Cricket Superstar?
Hometown: Sunshine Coast
Skill: Pace Bowler
Sam started playing cricket aged seven in his hometown of Meeniyan in country Victoria. He had a fairly nomadic upbringing – his parents managed a number of motels and caravan parks so he moved around a lot between country NSW and Victoria, particularly during his high school years. He would join the various cricket clubs in each place, and it was during a stint in Yass that Sam represented Northern NSW in the under-17s. At the age of 17 he moved back to Melbourne to live with his brother for a short time before moving to Caloundra with his parents. When he was 18 Sam did a six month stint in England, playing a season for Wisbech Cricket Club. He currently plays for the Caloundra Cricket Club. Sam’s cricket hero is Brett Lee, and his best pesonal cricket moment was when he bowled against the Aussies and English at the Gabba prior to an Ashes test. Sam also plays AFL for the Caloundra Panthers. He is currently a barman at the local pub.
