Episode 1
The Cricket Superstar journey begins with a nationwide search to find the countries best young sporting talent.
At key destinations across the country young cricketing hopefuls are put through their paces in cricket skills and challenges – all under the watching eye of Chief Judge Allan Border.
At the end of each roadshow the star performers are invited to attend a 3-day Intensive Selection Weekend at Cricket Australia’s prestigious Brisbane Centre of Excellence.
The Centre of Excellence showcases some fantastic talent as Cricket Australia’s Project Manager Brian MacFadyen and Allan Border watch on through punishing drills, challenge training sessions, and gripping matches.
After 3 days of intense action Brian and AB must choose the best 15 performers for a place in the CSS Finals.
Stood on the hallowed turf of Cricket Australia’s AB Field the 15 best players are called forward to receive an exclusive Cricket Superstar baggy cap, and a place in the Final 15.
Episode 2
The Final 15 arrive at their new digs; a luxury mansion, where the boys take in the VIP facilities (and Sam wastes no time in jumping into the pool, fully clothed!).
They are given the best equipment around with new kit from Asics and Kookaburra.
The weekly theme is revealed as Communication and the boys are given a challenge to see who can communicate best when sat down face to face with the formidable AB and are asked to explain why they should be Captain – which for most of them is a struggle.
The boys head to training where they meet their mentor for the series; ex-Australian Test Player and Captain of the South Australia Redbacks, Graham Manou.
The boys are given an early shock when at 5am the next morning they wake to the mansion full of smoke and fire trucks outside the house with horns blowing and lights flashing. The boys are told to evacuate the house before being whisked away by the Queensland Rural Fire Service (QFRS) who take them to a challenge.
The contestants have to take part in the assault course that trainee fire fighters face; a grueling session with lifting, pulling, carrying, hitting and tunneling.
The contestants climb the Brisbane Storey Bridge with Graham where he reveals that tomorrow they face their first match.
The Superstars face the Queensland U19s team a tough opposition of well-trained young talent, requiring the Superstars to dig deep for a win.
Episode 3
The Final 14 are told that this week’s theme is Endurance, and to see who will be Captain they have to hold their arms out straight in front, holding as many cricket bats as possible.
After a tough training session the boys test their vocal chords with a challenge to see who can perform the loudest and most stylish ‘Owzat’ on the theatre stage.
Cam’s performance catches the eye, while Justin’s loud shriek damages everyone’s eardrums.
In their second match the Superstars face the Queensland Academy of Sport team; a stronger opposition than in the previous week.
After the match the boys head to the pool for a recovery session where Olympic Champion Matt Mitcham leads a recovery session in the pool, ice baths before the boys get the chance to talk about Olympic success and handle a real gold medal.
It’s time to hit the fast lane as the contestants get behind the wheel in a rally driving challenge.
It’s time to head to enter the big stage when the contestants face the ultimate all-rounder challenge in the KFC Fresh Skills Test; an epic challenge testing throwing, catching, bowling and batting skills.
Episode 4
The theme of the week is revealed as ‘Passion’.
The boys become Romeos and woo Lee under the mansion balcony with the most passionate performance winning the Captaincy.
The boys have an evening bbq, which gets gatecrashed by some real hot talent as the Australian ladies team joins them.
Over dinner it’s revealed that the next match will be a battle of the sexes, as the boys will be taking on the ladies.
The boys moves off the pitch are tested in a Bollywood challenge where they dress up and make a big splash when they dive into the pool for the routine’s finale.
Some etiquette training goes wrong when Fricky’s lack of table manners puts the group in stitches.
Cricket legend Ricky Ponting runs a training masterclass where the boys are shown how to play like one of the nation’s all-time greats.
Episode 5
Strength is the theme the boys need to master, and straightaway they bounce into action, racing on a bungee running track.
A punishing indoor training session pushes the boys to the limit.
The Superstars take on the Bulls Masters a team of experienced cricket pros in a game that goes to the wire.
It’s time to cook up a feast when a nutritionist gives the Superstars advice on how to eat properly.
It’s time for the boys to flex up and get behind the team as they take part in a muscle man bus pull.
The art world is awash with colour when the Superstars test their accuracy and throwing ability in a paint ball challenge. Fricky’s accuracy is a masterpiece, especially when he hits Ben on the head!
Ryan Harris runs a training masterclass and shows the boys how bowling in the fast lane is done.
Episode 6
The boys have to focus on making a big splash in a swimming pool version of backyard classic catches.
The boys have a surprise when they’re told that they’re being flown to Sydney for the week.
The trip is no holiday though as hardcore Cricket Trainer Jock Campbell puts the Superstars through their paces in a punishing session on the Cronulla Sand Dunes.
Australian Test star Usman Khwaja runs a recovery session on Bondi Beach.
On hallowed Bowral turf the superstars face the Sydney Sixers, a new KFC big bash outfit.
Lee Furlong and Brendon Julian team up to test the boys focus on screen as they’re tested to become Fox Sports presenters for the day.
The trip to Sydney ends with a jetboat cruise around the harbour.
Episode 7
We turn up the heat with the theme of Pressure.
Training is a test of temperament as the session sees a mystery spectator watch the boys – and this vocal voyeur is a set up comedian instructed to sledge the boys to see who copes best under pressure. Mossy and Chewey being pushed to the edge and snapping in the process!
The sky is the limit as a skydive tests who can stay calmest in the face of extreme physical pressure.
In their first night game the Superstars dazzle under the lights.
Matt Hayden runs a masterclass showing the Superstars the secrets behind his colossal big hitting.
Episode 8
The theme is preparation, and Ellyse Perry joins Lee to rummage through the boys kit bags to see who has the best prepared kit bag.
It’s time to let it all hang out on the catwalk in an Australia’s Next Top Model challenge as the boys strut their stuff – clothed, then in skimpy swimwear.
It’s also time to make a mess as the boys tackle pottery to see who can make the best KFC Ashes urn.
Match time, and the Superstars face the Qld Youth team and notch up a credible win.
Episode 9
The Superstars are South Africa bound in the adventure of a lifetime.
They get to watch and meet their heroes as a visit to an Australia vs. South Africa One Day game sees the Superstars welcomed by the Australian One Day Team.
They come down to earth at speed as they tackle a zipline, with Chief Judge AB showing no fear as he sets the example of how it should be done.
An animal safari sees the team travel through the wild African bushland to see the countries’ beautiful scenery and stunning wildlife.
It’s a chance to mix it with the best as the Superstars are invited to train with the Australian team, and are offered a Masterclass by Craig McDermott, Shane Watson and Justin Langer.
A visit to Soweto gives the Superstars the chance to share their love of the sport with some of South Africa’s neediest, but most passionate cricket fans.
Episode 10
Matt Hayden helps the Final 3 cook up a storm as they prepare a feast for the local cricket loving community.
The superstars experience a different type of Cricket as they join the Australian Blind Cricket Team.
In an evening to remember the Superstars get the surprise of their lives when the mansion is transformed into a romantic paradise and their girlfriends arrive for a luxury dinner.
In their final match the Superstars dazzle under the lights again in a night game to remember as they join a local Brisbane team.
In their final Masterclass iconic pace bowler Brett Lee drops in to give the Superstars advice and tips on how to play like a pro.
