Lois Griffin was born into the wealthy Pewterschmidt family in Newport, RI. Lois let go of her inheritance in order to marry Peter Griffin , whom she met while he was working as a towel boy at her family's country club. Before Peter, she had many relationships with other guys. She fell in love with Peter because she found his lower-class, easy-going silliness more attractive than the men of her social circle. Lois is now 40 years old and has a fine body for a woman her age.
Lois' love for her children is deep. She engages in the lengthiest conversations with her daughter, Meg , giving advice and so forth. It has been implied, however, that she does not care as much about Meg as she seems to.
Lois teaches piano in order to supplement the family's income, but she spends most of her time caring for her family. She knows karate and was also a flight attendant for a short time. Lois is a modern-day housewife who finds time to cook, clean, run errands and avoid daily attempts on her life by her baby son, Stewie . Still, her deep love for Stewie often leads her to mistake Stewie's bad mood for just a mere case of crankiness.
Born in Highland Park, Chicago, and raised in the nearby suburb of Deerfield, Borstein moved to Los Angeles with her family in 1980 and eventually enrolled in San Francisco State University. Small roles in The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and a short-lived spin-off were quick to follow, with her stint on MADtv beginning in 1997.
While many fans cited her as a highlight of MADtv thanks to her outlandish characters and quick wit, Borstein was also eager to launch a film career and could frequently be seen in features such as Showtime, Bad Santa, and Catwoman. With a distinctive voice that seemed to lend itself well to animated performances, Borstein was cast as levelheaded housewife Lois on Family Guy in 1999. She stated in a 2004 interview that she does want to quit with Hollywood and be a full time mother, but Seth MacFarlene, Family Guy producer, won't let her go.
It was around this time that she also continued her small-screen trajectory with a handful appearances on the wildly popular family drama Gilmore Girls.
In 2005, Borstein took a turn for the dramatic in the monochromatic period drama Good Night, and Good Luck, with subsequent television roles on Drawn Together and Robot Chicken serving well to balance out the seriousness of the critically acclaimed Edward R. Murrow drama.
Borstein is happily married with two kids.
