Episode 1: The Girls Blow Into The Windy City
After an extensive nationwide search 33 girls from all over the country have been invited to Wellington to appear in the premiere episode of Cycle 2 of New Zealand’s Next Top Model. There they’ll be expected to complete a catwalk challenge with a high degree of difficulty, over the capital city’s beautiful harbour, in front of runway coach Colin Mathura-Jeffree and a very special guest. They’ll also be taking part in a stunning photo shoot at an iconic Wellington location with one of the country’s top photographer. This year the competition kicks into gear from the very first challenge, the pressure is on and there’ll be guaranteed tears and tantrums before 13 girls are finally selected to move into the Top Model House.
Episode 2: The Girls Hang Tight in Auckland
After a surprise twist at the final Wellington elimination - 14 girls relocate to the Top Model house in Auckland where instant allegiances are made and threaten the harmonious surroundings. There are more twists to come at their very first challenge, specially designed to put the girls' personal style to the test. Plus the models have to face their fears in a lesson that will stretch their capabilities to the limit, and their first Auckland photo shoot for Rob Trathen leaves them hanging.
Episode 3: The Girls Get Down and Dirty
The girls are left shell-shocked after their first studio elimination. The departure of a popular housemate unsettles everybody and new divisions quickly appear. A fast-paced challenged leaves the girls dazed and confused, a road trip ups the ante and a revealing photo shoot leaves some girls wondering if they are really cut out for modelling after all.
Episode 4: The Girls Get Made Up and Over
12 remaining girls let off steam at an impromptu birthday celebration but the party soon comes to an end. Sara is forced to talk tough when one girl refuses point blank to get her hair cut in the highly anticipated makeover episode! Another model thinks she’s got away with it – only to face a last-minute intervention from the stylists. The tears have barely had time to dry before the girls have to flaunt their new looks in a glamorous runway show – one that ends with a surprise challenge. Feathers are ruffled at the girls first ever beauty shoot and a failure to perform will see another potential model sent packing.
Episode 5: The Girls are Smokin' Hot
Reeling from the last elimination, 11 remaining models are forced to re-group. Sara brings a VIP guest to the house, which leaves the older girls tongue-tied, and gives the younger girls a chance to shine. The girls hit the streets in their first attempt to act as spokes models, but it proves too big of an ask for some. The girls finish off their week at a photo shoot with a difference.
Episode 6: The Girls are Fit as a Fiddle
Only 10 girls remain, and tension in the house is at an all-time high as arguments erupt over an unpopular cleaning regime. To kick-start their week the girls receive some much-needed advice from a fitness and nutrition expert. Both the challenge and a high fashion photo shoot force the girls to improve their interpersonal skills, but the biggest shock of all is awaiting them at elimination time.
Episode 7: The Girls Act Out
In the aftermath of a devastating elimination, the mood is lightened at the model house with an extra-special birthday celebration. The girls receive some much-needed runway tuition, but gaping holes in their Top Model education are revealed when an international guest makes a surprise appearance. A stunningly stylish photo shoot provides a playground for some, but a battleground for others and one aspiring Top Model won’t survive the onslaught.
Episode 8: The Girls are Driving each other Mad
With 7 girls remaining in the Top Model house, the competition and the tension has reached a whole new level. A controversial runway show will reduce one girl to tears, and test the beliefs of others. That’s nothing though compared to this week’s challenge, which will put the girls in front of a musical superstar but test their physical stamina in ways they never thought possible. The effects will carry over to the photo shoot, which will leave one contestant in need of emergency medical treatment.
Episode 9: The Girls get a Second Look
With 6 girls remaining it’s time to take an inside look at life in the Top Model house - including extended scenes and never before seen footage of the girls at work, and at play.
Episode 10: The Girls are Same-Same but Different
6 girls remain and it’s definitely time for them to spread their wings. The models are exposed to the sights and sounds of an overseas tropical paradise and it doesn’t take long for tempers to flare in the intense heat. An exotic challenge tests the girls’ cultural awareness and ends with a surprise twist. Plus a very special guest makes an appearance at the photo shoot. The biggest shock of all however awaits the models at elimination.
Episode 11: The Girls Fade into the Background
5 girls remain after a whirlwind trip to Thailand, and the fallout from yet another shock elimination continues. The appearance of a mystery judge leaves the girls wishing they’d made a bit more of an effort. Their lack of attention could prove to be seriously career-limiting. Another controversial photo shoot exposes the models in brand new ways, but a failure to commit to the unfamiliar surroundings will see one girl, whose photos have so far kept her at the top of the pack, sent packing.
Episode 12: The Girls Shop till they Drop
It’s make or break for the 4 remaining girls as they face their toughest challenge yet – the highly-anticipated go-sees. Face to face with New Zealand’s top designers, some will charm everyone they meet; others will struggle to even get through the door.
With the competition drawing to a close, a high fashion photo shoot will reduce one finalist to tears, and see others falter as they never have before.
Episode 13: The Girl who is NZNTM
In the dramatic final episode the last three standing face the long-awaited Covergirl commercial shoot, as one girl’s dream will come true, when she is named New Zealand’s Next Top Model.
