5 Facts About The Originals You Probably Didn’t Know

Before Legacies, was The Vampire Diaries spin-off series; The Originals. Here are 5 facts about the show and it’s actors you probably didn’t know until now…

Without The Originals we wouldn’t have The Flash:

Believe it or not, The Originals was CW’s first successful spin-off series. The popularity that the Mikaelson family brought were what was needed to convince CW that spin-off series’s can be a good thing, which ultimately laid the path for shows like The Flash.

Joseph Morgan could’ve been Lord Voldemort:

Our favourite villain from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, Klaus Mikaelson, had his first audition for the role of Tom Riddle, or Lord Voldermort in Harry Potter. Although he missed out on the role, we aren’t too bummed – I mean imagine The Originals and Vampire Diaries without Klaus!

Fans inspired the show:

The reason The Originals exist is simply because of the fans. Following the end of the Vampire Diaries, fans had plenty of questions for the fate of Klaus and the Mikaelson family and had begun making their own trailers for a potential spin-off. Eventually, actors Joseph Morgan and Claire Holt saw the trailers and were immediately interested in the possibility of a spin-off. From then on, everything else fell into place.

Try Try and Try Again:

Charles Michaels Davis (Marcel Gerad) had auditioned not once, not twice, but five times for a role in The Vampire Diaries and was unsuccessful before being asked to join the cast of The Originals.

Chicago, Chicago:

The original plan was to set the show in Chicago since a story was already developed for Rebekah Mikaelson. Although with the intention to film in Atlanta, the two cities looked worlds apart which forced the directors to reconsider their locations and landed the decision on New Orleans instead.
