Arrowverse To Conclude At Eighth Season

The upcoming and eighth season of arrow will be its last, CW announced Thursday afternoon.

Arrow is currently CW’s longest running DC comic series which was renewed for its eighth season in January this year.

Executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Beth Schwartz shared their bittersweet decision, stating;

“This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of ‘Arrow’ in mind,”

“We’re heartened by the fact that Arrow has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue for many years to come.”

“We are excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy.”

CW president Mark Pedowitz stated he was open to making way for a possible second phase of DC comics-inspired series on the network at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour in January.

“Things will age and we want to get the next generation of shows to keep The CW DC universe going for as long as possible.” Pedowitz stated.

The DC series launched in 2012 and its success arguably helped pave the way for a new era of comic book adaptations across streaming, broadcast and cable networks.

Season 8 will air later this year and will consist of only 10 episodes.
