Supergirl – James Olsen, previously referred to as Jimmy Olsen is a photo journalist who has had a long standing friendship with Supergirl’s cousin, Superman. After working at the Daily Planet in Metropolis, he decides he wants a change in lifestyle and packs up and moves to National city to work for Cat Co Media under the stern mentoring of Cat Grant. Working along side Kara, he soon learns of her abilities and he joins the ranks of Supergirl’s support team. Sparks fly between James and Kara but something always manages getting in the way of their blossoming love.

Mehcad Brooks is known to audiences for his roles as Terrence “TK” King in “Necessary Roughness” and as Eggs in “True Blood.” He won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for “Desperate Housewives.” Also, his portrayal of Matthew Applewhite on the series earned him an Image Award nomination and inclusion in Daily Variety’s “Ten Young Actors to Watch” feature in August 2005.
Brooks’ additional television credits include guest-starring roles on “Cold Case” and “Ghost Whisperer,” on the Network, “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Boston Public” and “One on One.” He also starred in the television movie “Tiger Cruise,” the legal drama “The Deep End” and the docu-drama “My Generation.”
In 2008, director Chris Carter cast Brooks as the lead in his yet-to-be-released feature film “Fencewalker.” His additional feature film credits include the Paul Haggis film “In the Valley of Elah,” opposite Tommy Lee Jones and Charlize Theron, and the Jerry Bruckheimer film “Glory Road,” which tells the story of the first all-black starting line-up to win the NCAA basketball championship.
An athlete himself, Brooks grew up in Austin, TX where he played football and baseball and was an All-State basketball player. He was accepted into Yale University, but instead attended the University of Southern California to study at their prestigious School of Cinema-Television. In addition, he modeled during his high school and college years, including work for Calvin Klein.
Brooks is an avid musician and writes and produces his own music. Also, he has a passion for travel and tries to visit at least one new country every year. His additional hobbies include horseback riding, hiking, rock climbing, skydiving and dancing in public. He supports the USC and University of Texas basketball and football teams, the San Antonio Spurs, the New York Giants, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Brooks has been involved with charity work for organizations including the Electronic Music Alliance (EMA), Somaly Mam Foundation, NAACP, The Harvest Foundation in Austin and Human Rights Campaign (HRC).
